Sandwich tern?

Location: Earth » Asia » United Arab Emirates » Dubai

Date: July 28, 2008

I wouldn't normally post this, but I would like to see what it is. In Dubai, UAE.

Terns
I really know nothing about terns, and was surprised to see 8 pages of them in my European field guide, which is the closest thing I have to the Middle East. I'll try to wade through them when I get some more time. What resources did you use to make your guess?

I don't have
a birdbook of the middle-east either, so I had to do some internet searches when I got home, and I finally came up with this website.

Now that I look at my tern again, it seems like maybe the bill doesn't have a yellow tip. I added another photo that might help; thanks a lot!

Changed Taxon
Media was moved from ID Request. Forgot to move this one when I moved the other. (Image: Sandwich tern?)
