Juvenile Green/Yellow Crowned Heron?

Juvenile Green/Yellow Crowned Heron?
Earth » North America » United States » South Carolina » Beaufort County

Date: July 1, 0008 This bird has been around the marsh for the past couple days. He is either sitting in a tree (low) or along the shore of the marsh. I think he is some kind of juvenile heron....maybe a juvenile green heron or a juvenile yellow-crowned night heron. I have not been able to figure him out. Thanks!

Hmm.
It's really hard to tell, but it appears he's developing a dark head and white face which leads me to believe it's possibly a Black-crowned Night-heron.

Thanks!
Thanks for your thoughts. I have seen Black Crowned Night Herons around, too, so I guess it could be any of the three types. I hope he comes back again in the spring.

heron
I too would say Black-crowned Night-Heron.
