Female Wood Duck w/Ducklings

Female Wood Duck w/Ducklings

Location: Earth » North America » United States » Michigan » Washtenaw County

Date: May 24, 2008

Female Wood Duck herding her brood into the cat-tails.

Note: This image is a testament to being ready. I caught a glimpse of movement out of the corner of my eye, instinctively turned, hit the focus button, and took the shot. The ducklings were almost running on the water's surface. In about 2 seconds, they were gone. A stroke of pure luck.
