Carolina Chickadee

Carolina Chickadee

Location: Earth » North America » United States » Oklahoma » Osage County

Date: September 3, 2008

I put the other pic in the Recycle Bin. I believe this is a better pic. Also, according to Oklahoma Birds-Lone Pine Publishing, this is a Carolina Chickadee - Poecile Carolinensis.

Carolina Chickadee
Id from photo is almost impossible and usually requires multiple images from specific angles. Upper wings - more vs. less white - corresponds to Black-capped (more), Carolina (less). Color of breast and underparts - Black-capped (buff), Carolina (white/gray). The bib is more sharply defined in Carolina species. Based on breast color and bib appearance, I am leaning toward Carolina Chickadee.
