Little Egret
Looking at my field guide, this is the Little Egret (Egretta garzetta) in breeding plumage. The two long feathers are described as "nuchal plumes." Apparently as a species these birds are widespread, including to Europe and even increasing numbers in the Western Hemisphere. However, there are several subspecies depending on the location.
