Aptos?
Heard of the city named Aptos, is there a gull named Aptos? To me it looks close to a Juvenile Mew Gull.

Taken in Aptos, CA
No, the picture was taken in Aptos. :) I have no clue about bird names. I'm sure you are correct.

Actually...
I think this looks more like a first-cycle Western Gull. This species is much longer and deeper-billed than the Mew Gull, with a much more pronounced gonydeal angle. That pronounced gonydeal angle is something that Mew Gulls lack in all ages. Also, The base of the bill is always pale (barring any aberrant plumages) in its first two plumage cycles of the Mew Gull and is almost entirely yellow in it's third cycle (Mew Gulls are a three-year gull, Westerns are four-year). Take a look at the first winter bird at: http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/Western_Gull_dtl.html. That bird is a little darker but I think that is due to lighting and the fact that this bird is a little more worn than the one in the photo at the cornell lab site.
