Blackbird

Blackbird

Location: Earth » Europe » United Kingdom » England

Date: February 3, 2008

Blackbirds are very territorial and this one was chasing off any other males who came near - no easy task in Winter, when we have continental visitors over-wintering. The highest count we've had at one time was sixteen Blackbirds - a mixture of males and females that had the resident male exhaustedly chasing nearly every bird in sight.
Now the days are drawing out the male is singing each dawn and dusk - a wonderful sign that Spring is almost here.
