Heron?
I don't think this is a crane. It looks like a juvenile white-faced heron from my Aussie field guide.

My field guide shows two cranes: the "sarus crane" is only in the far north. The "brolga" is in your area, but both cranes have red on their heads, and brolgas have black legs, while sarus cranes have red/pink ones.


Friends tell me it's a Heron
you must be right.
