Bald eagle

Bald eagle

Location: Earth » North America » United States » Arkansas » Yell County

Date: December 27, 2007

Bald eagle perched in tree at edge of open fields, in Holla Bend National Wildlife Refuge, western Arkansas. The bird had been hunting in the fields but retreated to the woods when our van appeared -- just as we spotted him. At first he took a perch fairly close to the van, but when I got out of the van to get a better look, he retreated further into the branches.
