Osprey in Flight

Osprey in Flight

Location: Earth » North America » United States » Florida » Everglades National Park

Date: February 18, 2007

Sighted along the Anhinga Trail. The osprey was "hovering" over some water, possibly hunting for a fish.

Adult female
Band of streaks or "necklace" on throat identifies a female.

Sexes
According to All About Birds, the osprey sexes are similar, though "female [is] larger and tends to have fuller and darker chest band." I'm not sure how dark is enough to qualify it from the photo.
