Rose-breasted Grosbeak

Rose-breasted Grosbeak

Location: Earth » North America » United States » South Carolina » Greenwood County

Date: April 28, 2006

Haven't had many opportunities to take bird pictures lately, so I'm making my way through my catalog of subpar images. :) I'll happily drop this image when something better comes along.

In the meantime, here was the first and only time I've seen a rose-breasted grosbeak. It came to feed on the Mahonia shrub outside my window. I took this shot through my blinds, and then tried to raise them for a better one. Unfortunately, that scared him off and this image is all I've got. Too bad, as it's certainly a beautiful bird.

Image is fine
Its the only Rose-breasted Grosbeak here from South Carolina, you should keep it at least until you get a replacement.

Well, OK
I guess it's OK to keep for mapping purposes. Hopefully he'll come back and let me get a better picture. The Mahonia berries outside the window are ripe, and I've only seen mostly mockingbirds eating them, though I did get a couple cedar waxwings yesterday.
