adult male, post molt?
A juvenile mourning dove's eye ring is gray. Turquoise blue marks an adult male. How about an adult who's molted and is growing new feathers?

subadult?
Thanks for your comments Dennis! Well, I think that there is that fine line between juvenile and adult and this bird may be right there. I should have noted that it was physically smaller than other doves. The eye ring is still partially gray or at least not as light as it should be for an adult. Head and neck look mottled and the overall appearance is dark and scaly. It may be very close to an adult but I think that it isn't there just yet. I welcome any additional comments.
