Date: April 2, 2009 This defiant cactus wren faces the ever-burgeoning population of Tucson. Imaged in the morning with a Canon PowerShot SX10 IS using the zoom in "auto" mode, then cropping the resulting image. Location is Greasewood Park on the extreme western fringe of Tucson.

Sadly, the Cactus Wren populations here in Southern California have also been faced with ever increasing pressures as more and more of their habitat gives way to housing and commercial development.
