another Yellow billed cuckoo?

another Yellow billed cuckoo?
Earth » North America » United States » Pennsylvania » Perry County

Date: None specified. We get lots of these guys in our yard every summer. We hear their call all the time (which sort of sounds something like "kettle kettle kettle" and then it tappers off toward the end.

This one seemed either overheated or sick... Spotted it in a tree probably in July of 2008

I'd Say So
Looks like the base of the tail is edged white, etc. I'm not a Pennsylvania expert but I'd say Mangrove Cuckoo would be exceedingly unlikely.

This is a wonderful bird and I love its call. Sadly this species isn't doing so well out west. It seems accepted that over 90% of its habitat is eliminated or degraded, populations have sharply declined and conservation status is only as a candidate for threatened or endangered listing (U. S. F & W). This is a rare gem for us out west.

Thanks for the ID confirmation
What do you think is wrong with it? It certainly does not look healthy, and letting me approach to take a photo is not a good sign because they usually never let you see them.

I Don't Know
I wouldn't assume something's wrong with it especially not having observed the bird. If something's wrong with it it may be a caterpillar-insecticide thing or matbe its just hot.
