Great Horned Owls Calling

Location: Earth » North America » United States » South Carolina » Greenwood County

Date: September 2, 2008

I heard this pair of owls in the woods in my back yard this morning, approximately 6:30am.

It sounds like the Great Horned Owl sounds on owlpages.com, but feel free to correct my ID.

I did a little noise reduction on the clip to remove the noise of my video camera motor.

GHO
I agree Great Horned Owl. Even though the female is larger than the male, she has the higher-pitched hooting.

Cosmic background groove.

The Groove
I think the "groove" is a byproduct of the noise reduction algorithm. Strangely you can't hear it on the PC where I created it, but it's very prevalent on my laptop. I will see if I can clean that up.
