Marble Teal

Marble Teal

Location: Earth » Europe » United Kingdom » England

Date: None specified.

Apparently a rare species in Europe, though these ones were sort of in captivity.

Captivity
What do you mean by "sort of in captivity?" Captivity is an issue that's come up here a few times already. So far what we've decided to do is add the tag 'captive' to the image, and remove the location data (by setting it to Earth). But so far we haven't had any "sort of" captives.

I'm hoping to add mapping/data features to this site sort of like we did on BugGuide, and I think we would want to show records for just wild birds. The 'captive' tag might be sufficient for this. I'll know more once I find time to work on it.

This was a wetlands centre...
I think they were put here and the probably fly away and come back every year. There was alot of other ducks that are classed as rare in the wild as well but I didn't ask the reception if they were captive and brought to this location.

Changed Taxon
Media was moved from ID Request. Well, we'll consider them "wild" for now and leave the location. We can always debate it later as the site grows.

Now, the second question is, what species is the marble teal? It's not in my European bird book, and Googling hasn't turned up much yet.
