Western Screech Owl

After closer inspection I believe this to be an Elf Owl (Any thoughts?). I took the photo in my mom's backyard in Tucson - apparently a little far north for it to be a Ferruginous Pygmy-Owl...
Turns out to be a Western Screech Owl! =0)

Owls
I've seen a whole two owls in my lifetime, so I wouldn't hazard a guess. Can you give an estimate on the bird's size? That might help narrow things down.

Yeah, the owl was only about 6" tall. I recall at the time first thinking it was a Pygmy owl, but then it's call sounded more like the guide described for the Elf owl.
I've seen and heard larger owls (Barn, Great Horned etc.) and doubt this is a juvenile of any of the larger species, but sure would like input to narrow it down. I have one more slightly differnt shot of the same bird that I will post - maybe it might help...

Tricky Owl
I'm thinking this is a Western Screech-Owl, it just has its "ears" down (or is a juvenile).
